Bond has been set for the man accused of stabbing his father and attacking a woman and her toddler.
On Tuesday, Tyrone Owen’s bond was set at $425,000 that must be paid in cash, which is not a common occurrence.
During the bond hearing
During the bond hearing, a police officer said they thought they were responding to a suicide but it was a male acting violently. On the day of the incident, August 15, a badly beaten female victim was found laying down on the front porch. Officers were told Owen was inside and upon entry, Owen was assaulting the 2-year-old by choking the child with his foot. A taser and bean bag shotgun were used to get Owen off the child.
Officers were also notified of another male victim next door with multiple stab wounds to the chest. That victim was identified as Owen’s father. Owen allegedly stabbed his father multiple times. The father had surgery and is expected to survive.
After he attacked his father, his neighbor and a friend saw a body laying on the ground and then saw Owen naked, covered in blood standing over the body. Owen then started to walk over to the two ladies and began demanding money and saying that he wanted to go inside. The victim said no. That’s when he began hitting the victim in the head and choked her causing her to lose consciousness, according to an officer’s testimony. The officer said Owen then beat her head into the brick steps and told the victim today was going to be the day she was going to die. The front door was open and Owen went inside and began attacking the child, according to the officer.
According to the officer’s testimony, Owen told officers he was going to kill them as he was placed in handcuffs. The officer said Owen broke out of the handcuffs and began to fight with officers. He was then restrained in a stretcher.
If Owen makes bond
If Owen makes bond, he must wear an ankle monitor and submit to drug and alcohol testing. He pleaded not guilty on all charges.
His lawyer says they will be seeking a psychological evaluation.
“We can only suspect that something went terribly wrong with him and we don’t know what that was yet,” said Josh Briskman. “So, we’re getting to the bottom of that.”
During the bond hearing the Judge called Owen a “definite danger to the entire community” as he issued bond higher than recommended for each charge.
Owen’s preliminary hearing has been set for September 11
